I have always been a big believer in "you have talent or you don't". I don't have a lot of talent. I'm kind of queen of mediocre. I can also kill any and all plants. When it comes to plants I'm a full fledged Serial Killer. Goo however, loves plants. Weight Loss and Acid Reflux Update

Hi all out there. I was amazed to see that even knowing that I haven't posted in a long time I am still getting 30+ hits a day. Some of you have even emailed me and asked for an update of my health post surgery. The surgery I had was called Gastric Sleevectomy. Basically the Doctor removed 85% of my stomach. It is now the size and shape of a banana.
  I have always promised that I would not lie to my readers and I am not going to start now. I had the surgery because I couldn't take anymore acid reflux. I've been on medicine for it for 21 years and I was done. The ARD was making me a grumpy mom. I hurt all the time and I was running out of medicine to try. My gastro doc suggested the sleeve surgery because it fixes 95% of ARD cases and let's face it I was morbidly obese.

The morning of the surgery I was scared and I wanted to chicken out. In fact right as the team (yeah it took a whole team to lift my giant butt) off the gurney onto the operating table I told them I changed my mind and tried to give up. Unfortunate for me the anesthesiologist had already given me the knock out shot and it was too late.

IT HURT LIKE HELL! MOST days I regret my decision. Really there are times when I am crying on the floor in the front room telling C he was right and I hate my life. I am getting better.... It's a slow process and I would never wish it on my worst enemy! Hear that Clay I would never want you to live like this and one time I would have gladly hit you with a car. (That's a sign I am growing up)!

I try really hard to focus on the positive things.

•  I am off medication completely!
• I can eat spicy food and it doesn't affect me!
• I have lost 55 pounds since surgery!

There have been comments that there aren't any pictures of me on this blog. Well, DUH! I was fat as hell. However, knowing that I am down 55 pounds and will be down even further in the future I feel ok posting this picture. Please don't laugh....

No One Reads This So Why NOT!!!

I've had a lot of thoughts running through my head the last few weeks. I have no real place to talk them out but I do have this blog no one reads. I will write down the craziness in my brain and send it off to the universe to solve.

I am worried about my surgery. I am worried I might die. I think this is from watching that stupid show My 600 LB Life. You know that show where ultra fat people like me go in and have baratric surgery and then a week after surgery and several hundred pounds lost they get cocky check out of rehab and then promptly go back to what got them ultra fat in the first place and then DIE!

Yes, I know that was a run on sentence but I don't care. I've been trying really hard to make sure that doesn't happen to me. I have meet with a nutritionist a few times and I need to get a trainer for a few sessions and then work work work. I don't think anything is gonna keep me from having droopy water bed belly though. I think I'm gonna need a tummy tuck when I am done. Yippee another chance of death.

What I haven't told my husband and may not have even mentioned it to my surgeon is during my last 2 knee surgeries my heart has stopped and I had to be revived. If I told C this he would have been totally unsupportive of the surgery. As it is he isn't happy about it but is being supportive as he can.

In case someone actually reads this, yes I will mention it to my Doctor as well an the hospital staff. I'm not dumb just fat.

I don't plan on dying but I have thought about what would happen to my family if I did.... Yes, I am nervous about that!

C would need help with the kids but I hope he stays here in our home and in the life we have made for ourselves. I do not want him to run home to Mommy. I want him to man up and raise the kids like we would have had nothing happened to me. I have talked to him about that and he has agreed.

I also think about how different my life will be after the surgery. I will need all new clothes, shoes, and even a new wedding band. I am worried about the staples coming undone. I am worried about my stomach leaking. I'm worried about the acid reflux not going away (the main reason for this surgery).

I'm not gonna lie I am going to miss Coke like crazy. I've decided to quite drinking it a week before surgery so that I can get over the caffeine withdrawal before someone takes out over 90% of my stomach. (I thought only 75% but nope over 90%).

I think this is enough ramblings for now. Maybe more later.

 

No nonsense A New Me Coming Soon

So what have I been up to lately? Well, on February 18th I am having Baratric Surgery. I'm embarassed to say this but at this momment I weigh almost 300 pounds. This surgery will make it so I can lose 150 pounds and it will take about 2 years. However, I should lose about 75 pounds the first 4 months. I have to admit I am scared out of my mind and I'm sure you wonder "What kind of person would do something this drastic?" Well I'll tell you a Wife, a Mother of 2, a Midwife, a Birth Doula. Someone with a lot to live for. I am going to lose the weight before something horrible happens. I have a sister that is overweight like me she developed diabetes and now is in a wheelchair. So I am taking control and I am working my butt literally off.

 

 

What keeps me going in the face of my fear is looking at the clothes I will be able to wear as the weight melts off. I have always loved the look of leggings! As you can imagine a 300 pound lady isn't very comfortable with the idea of leggings but that hasn't stopped me from looking and dreaming about them. I will lose weight fast the first few months and I really don't want to go and spend a fortune on new clothes that won't fit in a month. It's Raining In the Mohave

I woke up to rain and a grey sky. It's super dark in the house and it's going to be a perfect day. The only thing we are missing is S'Mores. How do you make S'Mores inside on a rainy day you ask?

1 large shadow box
river rocks (sold in Dollar Stores)
a few cans of sterno (you can find these in home goods @ Walmart)

Boring Bookcase? Not Anymore

 This is a boring bookcase. The back is just plain bland and it is decorated terribly.It just looks cluttered. So what is a girl to do right?

Gather supplies! I popped the backs off my Walmart $30 bookcases grabbed a can of spray adhesive and some wallpaper I was going to use in the Master Bedroom but changed my mind.

This is the back laying on the table.

Spray Adhesive I also got at Walmart for $5.00

Spray the back really well with the spray glue

Lay the wallpaper down on top of the back and smooth all the wrinkles out with your hand. (Ask for help with this part once down the paper tear easy)

Turn it over and trim the edges with scissors

Attach the back to the bookcase with tack nails (provided with the bookcase).

All finished Just decorate and enjoy. (Yes some of this will be rearranged a few more times while we are working on the new flooring).

I have been spending some time on Pintrest trying to get some easy recipes I can throw in a crock pot before I head out to a birth. This way my kids don't end up eating out at Burger King everytime I'm catching a baby. I saw this one and to my surprise I have all the ingredients in my pantry.


All it requires is the following:
Chicken breasts
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 package (8oz) of cream cheese
1 packet zesty Italian dressing seasoning
I added bacon pieces (I'll see if this turns out to be a mistake)

Serve over pasta.

I hope it works out.

Home Made Mozzarella Cheese

There are a few quirky things about me. One I am training to be a midwife when I started out college as an Archaeology student but spent 12 years pretending to be an accountant (which I sucked at). Another is I am a cheese snob. I love Jarlsberg and who doesn't love Mozzarella right?

I have often wondered if it would be cheaper to make my own than buy it from the fancy cheese counters (or direct from the dairy).

I found thanks to Pintrest a way to make my own Mozz. I thought I would share it with anyone that might still be reading this blog.

Wire Pantry Shelves ReDo

I have those dreaded wire shelves all over my house. They are in the pantry and in all the closets. I hate putting anything on them because it just falls right through.

As you can see here

Then I saw this on Pintrest and it was as though the Heavens opened! Pull and stick vinyl tiles! I even had some of these babies left over from the Chateau!

I took 2 of the pull and stick tiles removed the backing and placed them down on the shelves. 2 of them fit perfect across.

Now all those packages that used to fall through the cracks stay nice and upright

So organized it makes me proud
