Home Warranties Part 2

So now you know how awesome it is to be able to call in the Home Warranty people o come fix things for you I bet you want to know a few more things like; what kind of things does the Home Warranty cover, what is the price of a warranty, what is your co-pay? I'd like to answer those questions for you. What kinds of things does a Home Warranty cover? Well, it depends on the warranty you get. The majority of them cover electric, plumbing, appliances, HVAC, and roofs. However, you want to make sure that if your heating and A/C are all the same unit (called a Heat Pump) that the warranty covers this as well. Make sure you ask! What is the price of a Home Warranty? Again, it depends on the company you go through. I have found that they range in price between $300-$500 a year. Most companies will take monthly payments that range between $35-$60 a month. They will also give you a discount if you pay in full. What is your co-pay? They range between $45-$60 everytime you have a tech come out and fix something. Sometimes this can seem expensive but keep in mind that if you call out a tech to fix your dishwasher and the tech says the dishwasher is dead the Home Warranty covers a Brand New Dishwasher! $55 (like we pay per claim) is a lot cheaper than a new dishwasher. There are a few things though you want to ask the company before you plunk down your hard earned money. 1. Do you cover something that is deemed broken by neglect? A lot of comapnies don't! 2. What is the waiting limit before I can use the warranty? A Most companies will ask that you wait at least 30-60 days before making a claim. We went with a company that had no waiting limit. I liked this because the next day the electric blew in the living room. 3. How many claims a year can I have? Most companies will say there isn't a limit. What they don't tell you is that if you have too many the next year they may drop you as a customer or raise your premiums. Remember this is insurance and no insurance comapny wants to pay out! I hope this post helps!
